Meet Recap

Even though we were missing a few swimmers, the Veritas Swim Team swam their hearts out. This is the first time this season we swam against schools in our division, and we will see these teams at the State Meet.

Anna Jackson won both of her individual events, the 200 IM and the 100 Breastroke. Julia Flower found a new event in the 500 Free and won it with ease. Julia also swam the 100 Butterfly just two events before the 500 Free and, just three-tenths away from a victory. Vivian Tork took second, behind teammate Anna Jackson, in the 200 IM and second in the 100 Backstroke. Nataliana Espinosa took second in the 50 Free. The Veritas girls took second in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay.

For the Boys, Freshman Devin Esser performed the “Buddy Turner” by competing in the 50 Free and the 500 Free. The 50 free is the shortest race and the 500 Free is the longest race. Devin took first in both of these events with great times, so early in the season. Michael Shiaras, also a freshman, swam to victory in the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke. Even with missing two swimmers, the boys were able to take second in the 200 Medley Relay.

Madeline Young swam a great 100 Backstroke and lowered her personal best time by 2 seconds. Regina Rodriguez completed her first 100 Freestyle of her swimming career.

All the swimmers are continuing to improve in the pool.

Our next meet is against PCDS and Gilbert Classical Academy, on Tuesday, September 12th at the PCDS pool.
