We wanted to be Region Champs with a 5-0 record and no room for doubt. Last season, we upset this very same program and created the questions on who the true Region champ was and it came down to a tie breaker. Yet the questions remain.
This year, North Pointe Prep was considered the contender for the Region title. They “won” it last season and they were going to contend for it again this year.
They came out strong for sure, they contended with us for a while. They carved us up pretty big but the defense made plays when we needed them most. Zach Jackson forced a fumble late in the first half, which kept them from scoring before the break. Harris Lytle had a interception returned for a TD late in the game to end any chance they thought they had.
Offensively, those 2 had break out games. Zach Jackson had 10 catches for 260 yards and 3 TDs, with a Rushing TD on a reverse and recovered a fumble in the endzone for a 5th score. The player who fumbled was Harris Lytle who had 130 yards in the air with 2 TDs and would have had that 3rd had he not fumbled it for Zach.
I believe it was Marlon Brando that said, ” I could have been a contender, I could been somebody…” I will let you look up the rest.
